Deliverance Church International follows an apostolic leadership model that fosters spiritual authority, accountability,, and growth across all levels of the church. Here's a general overview:
General Overseer/Presiding Bishop: The spiritual and organizational oversight of the Church is led by Bishop Dr. Mark Kariuki who serves as the General Overseer of Deliverance Church International. He provides visionary leadership and strategic direction for entire movement.
Apostolic Council: The Apostolic Council composed of Senior leaders such as Bishop J.B. Masinde, Bishop George Gichana, Bishop Jimmy Kimani, Bishop Paul Oselu and Bishop Simon Kaniaru offers spiritual guidance, governance, and oversight. this council upholds the apostolic and prophetic mandate of the ministry.

Local Church Leadership: Each Deliverance Church operates under a local leadership team that includes a senior pastor and associate pastors. these teams collaborate with a Local Church Council to shepherd the congregation and administer church programs. the movement encompasses over 2,300 congregations globally.
National and Regional Coordination: Deliverance Church International is structured to support coordination and leadership development at both national and regional levels, this ensures unity, accountability, and shared mission across assemblies. Deliverance Church International emphasizes the importance of teamwork, inclusivity, and the development of leaders at all levels of the church.

Deliverance Church International is a spirit-filled, Pentecostal, Charismatic ministry that emphasizes: The power and the presence of the Holy Spirit. The operation of Spiritual gifts such as healing, prophecy, and speaking in tongues and the interpretation of the same. Deliverance from spiritual bondages and demonic oppression.

Biblical foundations including salvation by grace through faith in Jesus Christ, the authority of Scripture and the doctrine of the trinity.

Bishop Dr. Mark Kariuki

General Overseer

Bishop Mark Kariuki is the Presiding Bishop and General Overseer of Deliverance Church International, a role he has held since 2000. He succeeded Bishop William Tuimising and has provided visionary leadership to the ministry, overseeing its growth both in Kenya and beyond. Before assuming this position, he served as Chairman of the Deliverance Church Ministers Council and now leads the Deliverance Church Council (DCC), the governing body of the denomination. Born in Elburgon, Bishop Kariuki attended Michinda Primary, Koelel High School, and Asumbi Teachers College. It was during his college years that he gave his life to Christ and was baptized in the Holy Spirit in 1973. After college, he taught for eight years—first in Mombasa, then in Nakuru—before resigning in 1983 to fully commit to ministry. He founded Deliverance Church Nakuru, also known as the Life Celebration Centre (LCC), beginning with just six people. Under his leadership, LCC grew rapidly into a dynamic and influential church

In 2005, he moved to Nairobi to establish Deliverance Church at the City Centre and currently serves as Senior Pastor of Deliverance Church House of Bread. Bishop Kariuki also reaches global audiences through online ministry via the International Church Without Boundaries. He is a charismatic and passionate preacher, widely respected across Kenya’s religious landscape. He served as President of the Evangelical Alliance of Kenya (EAK) for five years and has long been an outspoken voice on issues affecting both the church and the nation. In addition to ministry, Bishop Kariuki is deeply involved in social impact initiatives. He founded the Moses & Mary Girls' Home for orphaned girls in his hometown and established the East Africa Centre for Law and Justice, advocating for godly values in governance and society. He is a spiritual father to many pastors locally and internationally, has consecrated numerous bishops, and authored several books. For over two decades, he has ministered on national television, inspiring countless lives with his teachings. Bishop Kariuki was first married to the late Joyce Nduta, who passed away in 2007. He later married Joyce Wacera in 2013. He continues to live, lead, and serve with passion and purpose.

Bishop Dr. J.B. Masinde

General Secretary

Bishop J.B. Masinde is the Founder and Senior Pastor of Deliverance Church International – Umoja (DCI Umoja), one of the most influential congregations in Nairobi. Since its humble beginnings in May 1984, when services were held in a tent near the Umoja Market, Bishop Masinde has guided DCI Umoja into a thriving ministry known for dynamic worship, sound doctrine, and active church planting both in Kenya and internationally. His leadership has made a lasting mark on the Deliverance Church International denomination and the wider Christian community. His ministry began at Deliverance Church Eastleigh, where he served as a choir master and developed a strong foundation in worship and leadership. Over time, his gift for preaching and pastoral care led him into full-time ministry. Today, Bishop Masinde serves not only his local congregation but also holds key leadership positions in the broader denomination, including General Secretary, member of the Apostolic Council, and the Deliverance Church Council, where he plays a strategic role in supporting the General Overseer and guiding the ministry at a national level. Bishop Masinde is widely known as a gifted Bible expositor and teacher. With over four decades of ministry experience, he has become a spiritual father to many pastors and leaders across Kenya and beyond. His clarity in teaching, prophetic insight, and pastoral wisdom have influenced thousands, and his messages continue to equip and encourage believers both in person and through media outreach.

In recognition of his contributions to ministry and leadership, Bishop Masinde holds a Bachelor of Arts in Bible and Theology from the East Africa School of Theology and has been awarded honorary doctorate degrees—a Doctorate in Ministry from the European Theological Seminary (UK) and a Doctorate in Philosophy in Humanities from the United Graduate College & Seminary (USA). He also serves on several national and international boards, including the Bible Society of Kenya, Life Ministry Kenya, and the International Leadership University. Bishop Masinde is part of Salt and Light International Ministries, a global network of leaders dedicated to equipping the Church through five-fold ministry. His impact reaches far beyond the pulpit, as he continues to inspire with humility, wisdom, and a deep commitment to the gospel. Through his leadership, teaching, and mentorship, he remains a central voice in shaping the future of the church in Kenya and beyond.

Bishop Dr. George Gichana

National Treasurer

Bishop Dr. George Gichana is a highly respected leader within Deliverance Church International, where he serves as the Senior Pastor of Deliverance Church – Eldoret. With decades of faithful ministry, he has become a well-known spiritual leader and mentor, both within his congregation and across the broader Christian community in Kenya and beyond. His journey of faith began in the early 1970s, leading to a lifelong commitment to spreading the gospel. To equip himself for ministry, Bishop Gichana pursued theological studies at Pentecostal Bible College in Kisumu and later at Pan Africa Christian University (PACU) in 1983. His leadership development continued through training at the prestigious Haggai Institute for Advanced Leadership in Singapore, and he was later honored with a doctorate degree from Beacon Bible Seminary.

As a member of the Apostolic Council of Deliverance Church International, Bishop Gichana plays a strategic role in the oversight and spiritual direction of the denomination. His contributions to doctrinal leadership and church governance reflect his deep understanding of scripture and his commitment to sound biblical teaching. Bishop Gichana is also a dynamic preacher and teacher whose ministry has a strong global reach. He travels extensively across Africa, Asia, Europe, North America, and Australia, preaching the Word and equipping leaders. His messages often focus on themes such as revival, discipleship, and church growth, and he is a sought-after speaker at leadership seminars, conferences, and spiritual retreats. Through his local and international ministry, Bishop Dr. George Gichana continues to influence lives and shape the future of the Church. His deep spiritual insight, passion for the gospel, and commitment to raising strong Christian leaders have earned him a lasting place as one of the pillars of the Deliverance Church movement.
